I visited you during the hurricane week this summer and spoke of an interest in Marcel Mouly. When your colleague returns from France in September, may I request an on-line viewing of the works selected? The painting of his in your front window is spectacular...has it sold?

My husband and myself just purchased a picture by M.Mouly. We stumbled across at a junk shop. It stood up against some old wardrobes down a corridor. I picked it up and fell in love with it, but my husband disuaded me from purchasing. There was something about this picture and so went home to look on the internet about an M.Mouly and to our astonishment this artist is still alive and French. We purchased the picture the very next morning but now need to find out the subject matter/picture title but don't know where to start. We're not sure if its a print or oil/acrylic, therefore any suggestion and true value for insurance? H. Johnson |

I found in cleaning out our storage three oil on canvas paintings. Two of the paintings, apparently by Daniel Couthures, are of scenes that include Notre Dame cathedral. The smaller one (16"x13") is entitled "Une Perniche Passe"; I do not know the title of the larger (approx.30"x42") one. The third painting is 37 1/2"x57 1/2" entitled "The Seine" by Shigeru Wakayama (1984). I was wondering if any of these paintings have any value and, if so, what that value range might be. I know that bukowskiīs in Stockholm, Sweden will auction a Mouly painting in march,
that has never been on the market before, itīs a Lady in a Chair knitting in the sunshine. I
tīs gouache and pencil drawings.
The colours are more subtle than what you would be used to - itīs a verry beautiful painting,
verry 50īs in itīs cubism style.
What Iīve heard the auction will start somewhere at 3-400 euro, wich is low, if you ask me...
Great that Iīve finaly found a place on the net where people actually knows of Mouly!! |
